Good lord, I have a blog

Yes, I’ve actually started a blog. As if I don’t already have enough places
to rant endlessly, now I have my own soapbox here to blame everything on The
Man.

…or, not. Probably not. I’m not really sure what I’ll use this
for, exactly. But I know I’m looking forward to the challenge. My wife says
this is some massive ego trip on my part. I don’t think that’s really true,
or at least, I don’t think it’s any more driven by ego than any other blog
on the web. But she’s usually right about these things, so maybe that’s the
case here.

Regardless, blogging was pretty much the one geekfad that I skipped out on
until very recently. I honestly thought of blogs as being something creepy
middle
aged men read as a way to peer into the minds of adolescent girls. But that
slowly started to change, as some very well known authors started
their own blogs, and of course I discovered that my
sister’s had one for some time now (those are her headlines there on the
sidebar underneath Shacknews). That,
plus the growing number of blogs I actually read on a regular basis, thrown
in with the fact that I had to do some blog-related research for the
day job all compounded in my discovering Movable
Type and deciding it was Very Cool
Software.

So we’ll see where this whole thing goes. As the one sentence discription
up there says, I’ll be covering games, art, geek culture and life here in new
york post-9/11. And I’m sure I’ll throw in a few photos with my trusty digital
camera while I’m at it. So stick around, and we’ll see how this turns out.
