Lo, The Leader lives!

Lo, The Leader lives!According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tim Blake Nelson has been cast in Marvel’s new Incredible Hulk movie as Samuel Sterns, AKA The Leader. That’s supercool news.

The Leader is among my favorite Marvel characters…not only is he downright bizarre looking (what with the vertically inclined cranium and all) but he has a tendency to act like a petulant child when things don’t go his way.

This movie is shaping up to be pretty awesome. You’ve got Edward Norton as Bruce Banner, Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, William Hurt as General Ross, Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky (The Abomination) and now The Leader. I’m actually one of those people who didn’t hate the last movie, but this sounds better in every way.

Now I can only hope they use the original, long-headed Leader, and not the modern, triple-brained version (that one kinda sucks).

Crackdown.

I can’t decide if this game is a brilliant commentary on the ineffectiveness of police or if it’s just tedious.

Crackdown 360

Also, in the future, cops can jump over buildings. Which is good, because apparently nobody bothers to build stairs anymore.

Outstanding.

Warner Bros. has finally announced the Blade Runner DVD sets that will be coming out this year on DVD, HD-DVD and Blu-ray. As expected, it’s all kinds of awesome. Sign me up for the superfreaky special edition Blu-ray version:

Blade Runner ultimate DVD set

The uber version comes with an origami figure! How cool is that?

Big thumbs up to Warner for doing the ultimate version in all three formats, too.

Take me to your leader.

From Grossy’s blog comes this lovely photo of Beyoncé Knowles dressed up like the female android in Fritz Lang’s Metropolis. Only, you know, without being sexy.

Beyonce looks like an idiot.

Seriously, I may not know the first (or second, or third) thing about fashion, but I know when someone looks like an idiot. And unless she just walked off the set of a silent sci-fi movie, that woman looks like an idiot.

The cyborgs are coming.

This is awesome…the i-LIMB, a bionic prosthetic hand controlled entirely by muscles:

I love that you can hear the servos moving.

This seems like the first step towards enabling people with prosthetic limbs to play Street Fighter, and I’m all for that.

I really shouldn’t have read that.

Here’s something I probably shouldn’t have read…an article on Popular Mechanics about how your choice of seat on an airplane determines the survival rate in a crash. Here’s the slightly disturbing diagram:

Useful information?

The quick and dirty version: sit in the back if you want to live, and don’t fly first class. It’s a deathtrap.

Of course, that assumes there are any survivors in the first place. PM only surveyed crashes were people lived, and there aren’t that many crashes in the first place (thank god).

Regardless, I probably shouldn’t have read that. I fly too much to read things like that.

Germany.

Land of many trains.

I went to Germany and all I got was this lousy cameraphone image.

No wonder they went nuts for Railroad Tycoon over there.

Boy, I really am behind.

Jeez, I’m really behind on my blog posts. The third topic for Untitled Art Thing (“Dragon”) went up on the first of the month. The results are pretty cool, so check ‘em out.

Here’s my submission, which came out okay:

Dragon: Lóng

I would have liked to have done it in color, but I couldn’t quite get the colors the way I wanted them to. So I reverted back to good ol’ black and white, and just strengthened the line in a few places.

This is not a campaign video (but it probably should be).

Here’s an entertaining video for a lazy sunday (other than, you know…Lazy Sunday, which is still entertaining after all this time)…Hot4Hill*, a parody (yes, it’s a joke) video of a woman’s obession with Hillary:

We’ve now seen hot chicks obsessed with Obama and Clinton. Any guesses how long it takes someone to declare their love for Edwards?

* Technically it’s called Hott4Hill, but I just can’t bring myself to write the word hot with two ts. I just can’t do it.

Where speed is?!

I returned from a week of traveling today in the wee hours of the morning, and after getting my paltry few hours of sleep, I headed straight to the Genius Bar at my local Apple Store. See, while I was in my travels, my beloved MacBook Pro somehow went on the fritz. First I got a ton of kernel panics, then it outright refused to start up. Yikes.

Anyway, the Genius Bar set me right. While I was enjoying that famous Los Angeles hospitality, it would seem that the ultra-cheap RAM I put in my laptop decided to revolt on me. I can’t say this is terribly surprising. I paid virtually nothing for it (seriously, it was stupid cheap), and it was from G.Skill, a company that proudly proclaims they have “GREAT SKILL IN MEMORY WORLD.” Also this:

Where speed is ?!

Riiiight.

Once that craptacular RAM was taken out, everything returned to normal (much to my surprise), and I’m replacing this RAM with a chip from Mushkin. That isn’t exactly top-of-the-line, but it’s at least a little reputable, and is significantly cheaper than Apple’s own memory.

In any event, I’ll try and get some more updates up here soon. I’d write up a post MinE3 writeup, but the show was so quiet that I really don’t have anything to say about it, which is a little sad. Stay tuned.
